[01-05-2026] Fresno County, CA – Man Hospitalized After Being Struck by Vehicle at Belmont and Van Ness Avenues

A man was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle in Fresno on Monday afternoon, January 5, 2026.

According to the Fresno Police Department, the collision occurred around 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of Belmont and Van Ness avenues, just south of the Tower District.

Officers said the pedestrian, who spoke with them at the scene, was transported to the hospital and is now in stable condition.

After reviewing surveillance footage, officers determined that the pedestrian had illegally crossed in front of the northbound vehicle. However, the driver of the vehicle is also at fault, and authorities are now searching for the individual who fled the scene. 

Police said the driver was operating a black sedan. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the Fresno Police Department at (559) 621-7000.
