[01-04-2026] Man Arrested After Hit-and-Run Collision Involving Elderly Pedestrian on Chestnut Street in Mount Shasta.webpA man was taken into custody by the Mount Shasta Police Department after a major injury hit-and-run collision involving an elderly pedestrian on Chestnut Street in Mount Shasta, Siskiyou County, on Sunday afternoon, January 4, 2026.

According to the Mount Shasta Police Department, officers responded to the 200 block of Chestnut Street around 1:30 p.m. after receiving multiple 9-1-1 calls about a hit-and-run collision with a pedestrian. 

Upon arrival, officers found an elderly woman who had sustained significant injuries after being struck by a vehicle. The woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Witnesses provided a description of the suspect vehicle and its direction of travel, allowing officers to locate and stop the vehicle. The driver was identified as 45-year-old Jeffrey L. Authorities determined that Jeffrey was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision.

Jeffrey was taken into custody without incident after the investigation.
