A crash involving a gas tanker and another vehicle shut down State Route 67 near Ellie Lane, less than a mile north of Poway Road, in Poway on Friday morning, January 2, 2026.
According to Sheriff’s Lt. Sean Gallagher, the collision was reported just after 5:25 a.m.
Authorities said the driver of the smaller vehicle was trapped inside but was freed by emergency crews and transported to a hospital with minor injuries. Officials confirmed that no fuel spilled from the tanker truck.
State Route 67 was closed in both directions for several hours before fully reopening at approximately 11:30 a.m.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
