[01-01-2026] San Mateo County, CA – Man Arrested for DUI After Rear-End Crash at La Selva Street and Casa de Campo Drive

A 26-year-old man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after rear-ending another vehicle and severely damaging his car in San Mateo on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2026.

According to the San Mateo Police Department, officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at approximately 9:27 p.m. Thursday in the area of La Selva Street and Casa de Campo Drive. 

Police said they determined that Juan S., 26, of San Mateo, was under the influence of alcohol while speaking with him at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle was treated by medics at the scene and later released.

Juan was arrested and booked on suspicion of DUI. The investigation is ongoing.
